With laser surgery, your skin returns to normal in record time, unlike traditional scalpel surgery which requires weeks or  months before optimal results are visible.  Laser surgery eliminates the need for prolonged recovery by reducing post-operative problems, including unsightly "black and blue" marks what were once considered a normal part of the healing process.

Most patients will feel little or no pain with laser surgery because the delicate laser instrument never touches the skin during surgery.  A concentrated, mid-infrared light cuts skin tissue and seals small arteries, veins and nerve endings.   Because laser surgery is virtually bloodless, swelling and bruising are kept to a minimum.

Look years younger in days with a laser assisted face lift

Using the laser for eyelid surgery and face lifts allow Dr. Ryu to address facial droops and sags as well as the changes in skin texture that occur as a result of natural aging and exposure to the sun.

Face lifts performed with the benefit of laser surgery are able to restore facial contours.  However, some patients who have undergone traditional cosmetic surgery still have creepy skin that looks tired and worn, dark circles around the eyes, fine lines, wrinkles and blotchiness.  To correct this, the skin can be treated with peeling agents that restore texture, erase wrinkles and eliminate blemishes.

Laser surgery allows the doctor to perform a chemical or laser peel to the skin of the face at the time of the face lift.  Skin rejuvenation can then be completed in one procedure instead of two separate procedures which are weeks or months apart.  The new generation of lasers can themselves be used to remove wrinkles around the eyes and lips.  Until recently, lasers used to remove facial wrinkles caused too much heating of surrounding tissue with an increased possibility of scarring.  The Erbium laser offers the benefits of less pain during treatment and recovery along with significantly faster healing times than other resurfacing lasers.  The ConBio Erbium laser offers the additional benefit of an optimally designed laser beam for the best treatment outcome possible from an Erbium laser.

Eyelid surgery

Undereye bags and drooping layers of skin on the eyelids give the entire face a sad, tired expression.  Dr. Ryu uses the carbon dioxide laser to perform transconjunctival blepharoplasty, a procedure in which bags and collections of fat that cause puffiness are removed without cutting the skin.  The laser also removes excess skin and tissue that hood the eyelashes from the upper lid, in a procedure with minimal trauma to skin tissue.  Bruising is minimal.  Return to work within a few days is the rule.

Remove tattoos and age spots without scarring

Prior to today's laser technology, tattoo removal often resulted in scarring because the upper layer of the skin had to be removed to get to the pigment below.  With the Q-Switched Nd-Yag laser, a specific wavelength passes through intact skin and removes pigmentation without damaging skin.  Four to seven treatments are required for tattoo removal and age spot removal usually requires only one treatment.
